Mid century frog table lamp by Bernard Rooke

£0.00

A larger scale frog table lamp by the renowned artist and studio potter Bernard Rooke (1938-).

Rooke attended Ipswich School of Art then going on to study at Goldsmiths College of Art. Whilst studying there he decided to take up pottery, finding it provided him with new opportunities for freedom of interpretation and creativity.

In 1960 he set up his first studio in Forest Hill, South London. By 1967 Rooke was tiring of London life and found himself in need of a larger studio, an opportunity arose for him to take over an old mill building in Swilland, Suffolk. In order to help pay for the extensive restoration work needed for the mill, Rooke was commissioned by the Grand Metropolitan Hotel to make 120 standard lamps, 120 table lamps and a 24 foot long ceramic mural.

Bernard still operates from his Swilland studio, displaying pieces to the general public.

In good working order. No bulb or shade included.
