Large primitive hand carved wooden bowl circa. 1800s

A large and scarce wooden bowl likely dating from the 1800's. 

These bowls were commonly used across the world for mixing grain, dough or other foodstuffs. This particular example is unusual in that it is covered in primitive hand carvings and has been dyed (in period) black. The bowl has charming period repairs in the form of metal plates which have been added as it wears down with use over time.
